Antimicrobal resistance of nosocomial carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales in Russia: results of surveillance, 2014-2016

Objective. To assess the prevalence and antimicrobial susceptibility of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales (CPE). Materials and Methods. A total of 5539 Enterobacterales isolates recovered from hospitalized patients in 52 medical institutions in 27 cities in Russia in 2014-2016 were tested. Antibiotic susceptibility testing (AST) was performed using broth microdilution method according to ISO 20776-1:2006. Avibactam was tested in combinations with beta-lactams at fixed concentration of 4 mg/l. AST results were interpreted according to EUCAST v8.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa: the history of one of the most successful nosocomial pathogens in Russian hospitals

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is recognized as one of the six most important pathogens in terms of antimicrobial resistance («ESKAPE» pathogens), and included by WHO in the group of microorganisms for which the need for development of new antimicrobial …

Carbapenemase-producing Gram-negative bacteria in the Russian research center of radiology and surgical technologies

Objective. To assess an incidence rate of carbapenemase-producing Gram-negative bacteria isolated from patients in the RRCRST. Materials and Methods. The clinical Gram-negative isolates obtained from patients hospitalized to the RRCRST over the period of February 2014 to April 2016 were tested. A screening for carbapenem resistance was performed by culture on chromogenic media, and species identification was made using MALDI-TOF massspectrometry. Susceptibility of Gram-negative bacteria to antimicrobial agents was determined using VITEK-2.

Antimicrobial resistance of nosocomial Staphylococcus aureus isolates in Russia: results of multicenter epidemiological study «MARATHON» 2013-2014

The study included 418 of the 841 clinical isolates of S. aureus, which were regarded as nosocomial. These 418 clinical nosocomial S. aureus strains were isolated in 2013-2014 from patients hospitalized in 25 hospitals in 19 Russian cities. …

Antimicrobial resistance of nosocomial Enterobacteriaceae isolates in Russia: results of multicenter epidemiological study «MARATHON» 2013-2014

Species of the family Enterobacteriaceae represent the most prevalent group of nosocomial pathogens. In this paper, we report the data on antimicrobial susceptibility of 1670 isolates of Enterobacteriaceae collected in 35 hospitals of 22 cities of …

Antimicrobial resistance of nosocomial Acinetobacter spp. isolates in Russia: results of multicenter epidemiological study «MARATHON» 2013-2014

Acinetobacter baumannii and related species of the A. baumannii complex are the common and one of the most difficult-to-treat nosocomial pathogens. In this paper, we report the data on antimicrobial susceptibility of 568 isolates of Acinetobacter …

Antimicrobial resistance of nosocomial Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates in Russia: results of multicenter epidemiological study «MARATHON» 2013-2014

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is the most abundant bacterial species causing nosocomial infections in Russia. In this paper, we report the data on antimicrobial susceptibility of 743 isolates of P. aeruginosa collected in 63 hospitals of 22 cities of Russia …

Production of Carbapenemases in Klebsiella pneumoniae Isolated in Saint-Petersburg

Carbapenem-resistant nosocomial K. pneumoniae isolates are a significant problem in clinical practice. Carbapenem resistance in K. pneumoniae isolated from hospitalized patients was 2.8% over the study period. NDM-1 carbapenemase-producing strains …

Use of the Anti-Pseudomonas Vaccine for Prophylaxis and Treatment of Nosocomial Infections in Patients with Severe Burn Trauma

Objective. To explore potential of anti-Pseudomonas vaccine for the prophylaxis and treatment of infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa in patients with severe burn trauma. Materials and Methods. This was a pilot, singlecenter randomized, parallel group study which enrolled patients with burns involving 10 to 60% of the body surface area. A total of 24 patients have received a course of «Pseudovac» vaccine (vaccination group), and 24 patients were included in the control arm (non-vaccination group).

Pseudomonas aeruginosa: Pathogenicity, Pathogenesis and Diseases

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the most important pathogens causing opportunistic infections. This literature review contains analysis of articles on molecular characteristics of P. aeruginosa virulence factors, as well as the pathogenesis of …
