Local Antimicrobial Resistance Profile as a Basis for the Choice of Antimicrobial Therapy of Staphylococcal Prosthetic Joint Infections

Objective. To determine the most effective antibiotics for therapy of infectious complications of prosthetic joint implantation caused by S. aureus and S. epidermidis. Materials and Methods. The antibiotic resistance profiles were determined for 535 clinical S. aureus and 211 S. epidermidis isolates. All the strains were isolated from the removed prosthesis and biological samples from patients with prosthetic joint infection (PJI). Susceptibility of clinical isolates was determined to 14 antibiotics according to EUCAST guidelines.

Current State of Antibiotic Resistance of Pathogens Causing Community-Acquired Urinary Tract Infections in Russia: «DARMIS» Study (2010–2011)

Objective. Objectives. To investigate etiology and susceptibility of pathogens causing community-acquired urinary tract infections (UTIs) in different regions of Russia in various patients’ subsets to the most clinically used antimicrobials. Materials and Methods. A total of 903 uropathogens isolated from urine samples of children and adults of all age groups with acute (and recurrence of chronic) community-acquired UTIs, including pregnant women with asymptomatic bacteriuria were collected in 26 centers of 18 cities in Russia during 2010–2011 and included in the «DARMIS» study.

Results of Microbiological Study in Patients with Keratitis

This paper provides the results of a study to determine spectrum of pathogens causing bacterial keratitis and their antimicrobial susceptibility. A total of 62 patients with keratitis were examined over the period of 2010–2012. The most common …
