С. difficile infection: clinical and pharmacoeconomic assessment of treatment regimens in antibiotic-associated diarrhea

This paper provides a review of the largest studies (over the period of 2017 to 2022) on cost-effectiveness analysis of the recommended treatment algorithms for Clostridioides difficile infection in patients with antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD), …

Antimicrobial resistance of staphylococci in pediatric hospitals

Objective. To determine frequency of Staphylococcus isolation and antimicrobial resistance in hospitalized children with different types of infections. Materials and Methods. Species identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing in staphylococci were performed on a WalkAway 96 analyzer using Pos Combo type 20 tablets, and mecA gene detection was performed on a RotorGene 6000 amplifier with a set of AmpliSens MRSA-screen FL. Results. A total of 876 strains of staphylococci isolated in children’s hospitals were tested.

Therapeutic drug monitoring of vancomycin in patients with infectious complications in traumatology and orthopedics

Objective. The purpose of this study was to study the frequency of achievement of target values of vancomycin residual concentration (RC) and to identify the factors influencing this indicator. Materials and Methods. A retrospective observational study of vancomycin RC was performed in 471 patients who received vancomycin infusions in the department of purulent surgery of the RSRI of TO named after R.R. Vreden about capillary instillation after major orthopedic operations over the period from 01.

Factors affecting a variability of serum vancomycin concentrations in clinical practice

This study assessed vancomycin concentrations in standard dosing regimens in a routine clinical practice and determined factors affecting their variability. Patients with normal renal function more often experienced low trough serum vancomycin …

Vancomycin Dosing in Hemodialysis Patients

Infectious complications are constitute a serious challenge for patients receiving hemodialysis. With regard to the broad spread of S. aureus isolates with lost susceptibility to β-lactams (MRSA) vancomycin is key option for treatment of these …

Anti-Staphylococcal Effects of Telavancin and Vancomycin in In Vitro Simulations of the Antibiotic Pharmacokinetics

Telavancin (TLV) is an investigational lipoglycopeptide with multiple mechanism of action. It exhibits rapid bactericidal activity against gram-positive bacteria, including methicillin-susceptible and -resistant, glycopeptide-intermediate and …

Comparative Pharmacodynamics of Daptomycin and Vancomycin with Staphylococcus aureus in an in vitro Dynamic Model

To compare the pharmacodynamics of daptomycin (DAP) and vancomycin (VAN) as well as killing kinetics of S. aureus with different MICs were studied at widely ranged AUC/MIC ratios. Two clinical isolates, S. aureus 866 (MICDAP 0.35 µ/ml and MICVAN 0.70 …

Current Views on the Therapy of Enterococcal Endocarditis

The recent approaches to the treatment of endocarditis caused by Enterococcus spp., including strains that are resistant to conventional therapy, are discussed in the article. The possible ways of reduction of nephrotoxicity in elder patients and in …

Epidemiology of Antimicrobial Resistance of Nosocomial Strains of Staphylococcus aureus in Russia: Results of Prospective Multicenter Study

Objective. To determine in vitro activity of antimicrobials against S. aureus isolated from hospitalized patients from different regions of Russia. Materials and Methods. A total of 879 clinical strains of S. aureus isolated in 2000–2001 from patients hospitalized in 17medical institutions in different parts of Russia. Susceptibility to 18 antimicrobials: oxacillin, vancomycin, teicoplanin, linezolid, erythromycin, clindamycin, lincomycin, gentamicin, mupirocin, fusidic acid, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin, quinupristin/dalfopristin, rifampicin, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole, tetracycline, chloramphenicol was determined by agar dilution method in accordance with the NCCLS recommendations.

Genus Leuconostoc: Clinical Significance, Identification, Susceptibility to Antimicrobials

In many cases vancomycin is a drug of choice for the treatment of serious gram-positive infections and what is more important vancomycin is often the only antimicrobial agent that active against multiresistant strains. In this connection the correct …
