The molecular characteristics of antibiotic-resistant strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae isolated in traumatology hospitals

This study analyzed a prevalence of carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae strains obtained in the Privolzhsky Federal Medical Research Center units and their antibiotic resistance mechanisms. During the study year, the incidence of K. pneumoniae …

Carbapenemase-producing Gram-negative bacteria in the Russian research center of radiology and surgical technologies

Objective. To assess an incidence rate of carbapenemase-producing Gram-negative bacteria isolated from patients in the RRCRST. Materials and Methods. The clinical Gram-negative isolates obtained from patients hospitalized to the RRCRST over the period of February 2014 to April 2016 were tested. A screening for carbapenem resistance was performed by culture on chromogenic media, and species identification was made using MALDI-TOF massspectrometry. Susceptibility of Gram-negative bacteria to antimicrobial agents was determined using VITEK-2.

Prevalence of carbapenemase-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates in Belarus and their competitive ability

Susceptibility to antibiotics was determined for 208 hospital isolates from 4 regions of Belarus. The broad abundance of resistance to carbapenems was shown. The genes of carbapenemases blaNDM, blaOXA-48 and blaKPC were detected in 55 strains from 12 …

Antimicrobial resistance of nosocomial Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates in Russia: results of multicenter epidemiological study «MARATHON» 2013-2014

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is the most abundant bacterial species causing nosocomial infections in Russia. In this paper, we report the data on antimicrobial susceptibility of 743 isolates of P. aeruginosa collected in 63 hospitals of 22 cities of Russia …

Multidrug-Resistant Enterobacteriaceae Colonizing Gastrointestinal Tract in Infants with Congenital Heart Disease on Admission to Cardiac Surgery Hospital

We studied 126 children, admitted to cardiac surgery hospital with colonization of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) by multidrug-resistant Enterobacteriaceae. Criterion for inclusion in the study were children with complex congenital heart disease …

Characteristics of Nosocomial Strains of Acinetobacter spp. in a Trauma Center

Incidence rates of Acinetobacter spp. isolated from tissue specimens and wound samples in patients with severe burns, chronic osteomyelitis, and diabetic foot infections were determined during the 5 years (2008– 2012). Antimicrobial resistance of …
