Abstract
At this prospective 12-months study we investigated the incidence of acute otitis media (AOM), it’s severity and frequency of hospitalization in children from 0 to 5 years old. We detected, that AOM-burden in children under 5-years old in the Russian Federation is very high (18.6 clinically confirmed cases of AOM per 100 manyears) and it is a big problem in healthcare. Primary prophylaxis of AOM with modern conjugate pneumococcal vaccines is the most effective strategy of AOM control.
