В настоящее время в мире инфицированы вирусом гепатита В (HBV) 350 млн человек. Несмотря на существование вакцины, HBV остается одним из важнейших вирусов, вызывающих заболевания у человека. a Интерферон является единственным препаратом, одобренным во всем мире для лечения хронического гепатита В. Однако терапия интерфероном нередко приводит к развитию нежелательных лекарственных реакций, а результаты лечения, как правило, оказываются неудовлетворительными. Основное направление в развитии новых препаратов для терапии вирусного гепатита В направлено на подавление специфической ДНК-полимеразы HBV. Проводится оценка возможного использования для лечения больных аналогов нуклеозидов (и нуклеотидов), эффективность которых при лечении других вирусных инфекций уже доказана. Являвшиеся первоначально случайными находками при поиске эффективных анти-HSV и анти-ВИЧ агентов такие препараты, как фамцикловир (пенцикловир), BMS-200475 (энтекавир), ламивудин (3ТС), (-)FTC, L(-)Fd4C, L-FMAU, DAPD (DXG), bis(POM)-PMEA и bis(POC)-PMPA, в настоящее время являются многообещающими средствами терапии вирусного гепатита B. Можно утверждать, что будущее химиотерапии больных вирусным гепатитом B принадлежит использованию комбинаций лекарственных средств.
