Objective. To compare genotypes (by mec complex) of methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) isolated from different patient populations.
Materials and Methods. A total of 191 S. aureus strains were included in the study. These strains were isolated during the period of 2007–2011 from patients examined and treated in a specialized outpatient clinic and patients hospitalized to the Republic Teaching Hospital in Kazan. Susceptibility to oxacillin was determined according to NCCLS standards, and MIC90 for oxacillin was determined according to Guidance 4.
