Antimicrobial susceptibility of Mycobacterium avium complex mycobacteria isolated from patients in Ural Federal District of the Russian Federation

Objective. To assess minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of antimicrobials for Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) mycobacteria isolated from patients in Ural Federal District of the Russian Federation. Materials and Methods. We determined MICs for 33 M. avium and 34 M. intracellulare strains isolated from 67 patients with mycobacteriosis or tuberculosis/mycobacteriosis co-infection during 2018– 2019. SLOMYCO Sensititre test-system was used for susceptibility testing to 12 antibiotics: amikacin, streptomycin, clarithromycin, ethambutol, rifabutin, rifampicin, ciprofloxacin, ethionamide, isoniazid, linezolid, moxifloxacin, and doxycycline.

Monitoring of macrolide resistanceassociated mutations in Mycoplasma genitalium in Russia

Objective. To determine spectrum and prevalence of genetic determinants of resistance to macrolides in Mycoplasma genitalium in a Russian patient population. Materials and Methods. A total of 873 M. genitalium-positive samples from five geographical regions of Russia were investigated over the period of 2009–2019 using the previously developed protocol of real-time polymerase chain reaction (allows detecting any nucleotide substitutions in the 23S rRNA gene of M. genitalium at positions 2058, 2059, and 2611).

Experience in implementing the AMRcloud online platform for local antimicrobial resistance surveillance in a tertiary care hospital

Objective. To create local antibiotic resistance surveillance system using the AMRcloud online platform to provide evidence base for activity of antimicrobials (AM) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) epidemiology. Materials and Methods. This study was conducted at the Pirogov National Medical and Surgical Center (Moscow, Russia). The study is prospective, with two evaluations of the local AMR surveillance system (before and after the implementation of the AMRcloud online platform). Separately, the effects of implementing the AMRcloud platform were evaluated and the most frequent scenarios of using this system in hospital were studied.

To assess antimicrobial susceptibility, presence of resistance genes and determine the phenotypic groups of K. pneumoniae, P. aeruginosa and A. baumannii isolated from blood and cerebrospinal fluid of children with nosocomial infections in intensive care units from 2014 to 2020. Materials and Methods. Minimum inhibitory concentrations of antibiotics were determined using the serial broth microdilution method. Genomic properties in Achromobacter spp. strains from cystic fibrosis patients in Russia

Objective. To determine species, sequence-types, antimicrobial resistance and virulence genes in Achromobacter spp. isolates obtained from cystic fibrosis (CF) patients in Russia. Materials and Methods. Samples (sputum, nasopharyngeal swab) from 168 CF patients from 48 regions were studied. Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) was performed on MGISEQ-2000 platform. SPAdes software, Galaxy, ResFinder, Integrall, PubMLST were used for analysis of WGS data. Results. A total of 18 strains of Achromobacter spp. were isolated from 16 of 168 CF patients.

Cefazolin inoculum effect among methicillinsusceptible Staphylococcus aureus isolated from patients with skin infections

Objective. To evaluate frequency and intensity of cefazolin inoculum effect among methicillin-susceptible staphylococci isolated from patients with skin infections. Materials and Methods. A total of 80 methicillin susceptible isolates of Staphylococcus aureus were identified by cefoxitin disk-diffusion test and negative results of real-time PCR for mecA gene. Inoculum effect was measured by broth microdilution test with two inocula with concentrations of 5 × 105 CFU/mL and 5 × 107 CFU/mL.

The prevalence and antimicrobial susceptibility of circulating S. pneumoniae serotypes in adult population in Russia (epidemiological study «SPECTRUM»)

Objective. To estimate prevalence and antimicrobial susceptibility of circulated S. pneumoniae serotypes in adult population in different regions of the Russian Federation. Materials and Methods. A total of 500 isolates of S. pneumoniae obtained from patients with invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD), community-acquired pneumonia (CAP), sinusitis/acute otitis media (AOM) and healthy carriers from 29 centers were included in the study from 01 June 2019 to 15 January 2020. Re-identification, typing using real-time PCR with 27 primer pairs and antimicrobial susceptibility testing were performed in the central laboratory by standardized methods.

Local microbiological monitoring as a basis for determining etiological significance of conditional pathogens: data from a burn intensive care unit

Objective. To assess the etiology of infections, microbial associations and antimicrobial resistance in a burn intensive care unit. Materials and Methods. A microbiological study of 1322 biological samples from 195 patients with extensive burns included 479 blood samples, 82 respiratory samples, 326 urine samples, and 435 wound samples. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was performed, and coefficients of constancy and associativity (CA), as well as the Jaccard coefficient were calculated. Results.
