Abstract
This literature review is devoted to Yersinia enterocolitica and other enteropathogenic Yersinia spp. The main biochemical and biological patterns of Y. enterocolitica and Y. pseudotuberculosis are listed, with the description of virulence factors and its genetic control. Epidemiology and pathogenesis as well as clinical features and diagnosis are described in details. Approaches to the treatment and prophylaxis of yersiniosis are suggested.
