Surveillance of antimicrobial resistance in Streptococcus agalactiae isolated from pregnant women and newborns in 2010–2022

Objective. To study the dynamics and molecular mechanisms of resistance of Streptococcus agalactiae strains isolated from pregnant women and newborns in St. Petersburg in 2010–2022. Materials and Methods. The strains of S. agalactiae (n = 248) were obtained by analyzing the clinical material of pregnant women and newborns who were hospitalized at Research Institute of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductology named after D.O. Ott in 2010–2011 and 2020–2022. Determination of susceptibility to antibacterial drugs was evaluated by disk diffusion method.

The prevalence and characterization of ESBL-producing strains of Salmonella enterica circulating in the territory of the Russian Federation (2016–2020)

Objective. To analyze frequency and identify genetic determinants of resistance of non-typhoid Salmonella (NTS) producing extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) isolated in the Russian Federation over the period 2016 to 2020. Materials and Methods. Salmonella isolates, suspected to ESBL production, were collected by the All-Russia Reference Center of Salmonellosis during the national Salmonellosis surveillance program. Phenotypic resistance was determined by the broth microdilution method using G-I and G-II Mikrolatest®SensiLaTest MIC plates and by the double-disk synergy test.

Genetic characteristics of antimicrobial resistance mechanisms in Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumannii isolated from blood and cerebrospinal fluid of children

Objective. To assess antimicrobial susceptibility, presence of resistance genes and determine the phenotypic groups of K. pneumoniae, P. aeruginosa and A. baumannii isolated from blood and cerebrospinal fluid of children with nosocomial infections in intensive care units from 2014 to 2020. Materials and Methods. Minimum inhibitory concentrations of antibiotics were determined using the serial broth microdilution method. The identification of genes encoding the production of carbapenemases was carried out using hybridization fluorescence detection.

Molecular epidemiology of mcr gene group

Colistin and polymyxin B are the “last reserve” antimicrobials for the treatment of extensively drug-resistant Gram-negative bacterial infections. The rapidly increasing prevalence of polymyxin resistance mediated by the mcr gene localized on plasmid …

Characteristics of Nosocomial Strains of Acinetobacter spp. in a Trauma Center

Incidence rates of Acinetobacter spp. isolated from tissue specimens and wound samples in patients with severe burns, chronic osteomyelitis, and diabetic foot infections were determined during the 5 years (2008– 2012). Antimicrobial resistance of …
