Molecular and genetic features of pathogens in patients with unfavorable course of tuberculosis and HIV infection

Objective. To study molecular and genetic features of M. tuberculosis (MTB) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in patients with unfavorable course of HIV infection and tuberculosis. Materials and Methods. A total of 105 patients with HIV infection and newly diagnosed tuberculosis in whom tuberculosis was confirmed by microbiological and molecular genetic methods were included. The follow-up period was at least 6 months. Based on the results of the examination during treatment, all patients were divided into two groups: group 1 – patients with favorable course of HIV infection and tuberculosis (n = 78), group 2 – patients with unfavorable course of HIV infection and tuberculosis (n = 27).

Mutations in 23S rRNA gene associated with clarithromycin resistance in Helicobacter pylori clinical isolates from Saint-Petersburg

Objective. To identify point mutations in 23S rRNA gene associated with phenotypic drug resistance to clarithromycin (CLR) in clinical isolates of H. pylori. Materials and Methods. A total of 50 H. pylori clinical isolates (2014–2022) from adult patients with chronic gastritis (n = 32), duodenal ulcer (n = 11) and gastric cancer (n = 1) were included in this study. Of 50 isolates, 30 were obtained from newly diagnosed patients, 20 – from previously treated patients after eradication failure.

New regimens and new medications in the treatment of tuberculosis: keeping step?

Rapid tests detecting Mycobacterium tuberculosis and drug resistance which are universally implemented in medical practice has dramatically improved the diagnosis of rifampicin-resistant tuberculosis and shortened turnaround time thus enabling early …

Prevalence of carbapenemase-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates in Belarus and their competitive ability

Susceptibility to antibiotics was determined for 208 hospital isolates from 4 regions of Belarus. The broad abundance of resistance to carbapenems was shown. The genes of carbapenemases blaNDM, blaOXA-48 and blaKPC were detected in 55 strains from 12 …
