Abstract

Local treatment of wound infections remains the preferred method of therapy, reducing the risk of adverse systemic reactions while providing high therapeutic concentrations in wound tissues. This article is an analysis of clinical studies of local therapy of acute and chronic wounds over the past decade with comments on the value of these data from the point of view of real clinical practice, recommendations to practitioners in the treatment of wounds, assumptions about the directions of finding ways to combat wound infections. The more well-known routine practices that have remained fully or partially relevant since the end of the last century are not discussed here, nor are the means that accelerate regeneration and epithelialization in the wound.
