Abstract

The purpose of the expert meeting was to develop a coordinated expert position on key issues in the microbiological diagnosis of community-acquired urinary tract infections (UTIs), in particular the issues of determining sensitivity to antimicrobial drugs and the interaction of microbiologists and clinicians. During the meeting, exclusively microbiological diagnosis of the following community-acquired UTIs (uncomplicated and complicated) in immunocompetent patients was considered: cystitis, asymptomatic bacteriuria, pyelonephritis.
