Abstract

The efficacy of antibacterial therapy is determined by multiple factors, including pharmacokinetic (PK) parameters of the antimicrobial agent. The predictive value of PK parameters has been confirmed in a number of in vivo experiments and clinical observations. This paper is focused on the assessment of levofloxacin PK and pharmacodynamics to predict its clinical and microbiological efficacy and dependence of those parameters on the levofloxacin drug quality. Our study was demonstrated that administration of generic levofloxacin with reduced bioavailability may increase risk of clinical failure up to 17% compared to the original drug product.
