Objective.

Aim. To evaluate the comparable solubility of original levofloxacin (Tavanic, Sanofi–Aventis, France) and its generics.

Materials and Methods.

The resolution kinetics of the original drug and two generics was studied in different рН levels. The choice of рН levels was done according to the US pharmacopeia.

Results.

The original levofloxacin has shown the stable parameters important for bioavailability independently from рН level. At the same time resolution kinetics of two generic products significantly varied depending on рН.

Conclusions.

Study results make us to presume that the use of levofloxacin generics could be associated with lower concentrations of this antibiotic in different tissues and body fluids that possibly can lead to insufficient efficacy and selection of fluoroquinolone resistance.
